Food Photography

Project Type: Photography, Studio Lighting

Date: October 2023

In my photo lighting class during my senior year of college, we learned how to take photos with food using our DSLR cameras. I loved how my instructor for the class made his photos come out dramatic and unique, so I wanted to mirror that with mine. The only difference I made with mine is I added motion to one of them to experiment with the salt explosion coming from the pretzels!

Glass Photography

Project Type: Photography, Studio Lighting

Date: November 2023

In my Photography Lighting class, we learned how to take photos with the strobe lights and learned different techniques to get the perfect lighting with the strobes. I also learned during this process how to capture liquid being poured into the cup and get the motion from the liquid. I experimented with the lighting for the perfume bottles, how to dramatize the lighting, play with the strobes, and experiment with the gel sheets.

Scanography

Project Type: Epson Scanner, Adobe Photoshop

Date: March 2024

I was learning how to use the Epson Scanner feature for a project for my Photoshop class. I was inspired by some artists like Miss Wilson and Matthew Llyod with how they positioned their hands in the pictures, and JoLynne Martinez with how she made her hands go into motion with the scanner. I wanted to capture my hand tremors and see what it would come out. For fun, I played with the gradient settings on Photoshop, messed with the overlays, and toggled with the inversions to see what it produced!

Distant Memory

Project Type: Film photography, film processing,

darkroom

Date: September 2021

While I was learning how to take photographs with a film camera and develop them in the darkroom, I wanted to make a photograph dedicated to a close person in my life. I knew I wanted to dedicate this project to my grandfather, Arnold Parkhurst. He is the last living grandparent I have in my life, and I wanted to make something cool with the film I shot. I took two pieces of film, with one frame being the back of my grandfather and another of the tree in his front yard, put them together, and exposed them to the light in the darkroom. This was the outcome of the photo exposure.
